Generally speaking, you want to create ultra high levels of ozone in the air for short periods of time to perform successful ozone shock treatments. Low levels of ozone over long periods of time (24-48 hrs) as some ozone vendors recommend will deteriorate the foam in furniture and the carpet's padding and leave an "ozone smell" that will stick around for days. To avoid that, follow our suggestions and do SHORT, HIGH CONCENTRATION ozone shock treatments! One to six hours max, that's all it takes! Bacteria, viruses, mold, etc will begin to die within minutes. Bed bugs, dust mites, etc will die within the hour. VOC's will break down within minutes as well. The secret to a successful ozone shock treatment is to get in and out as quick as possible. Ozone works quickly to destroy odor causing substances and going longer than our recommendations is not advisable.
